  1. Danse Macabre

    Danse Macabre

This collage is based off of a musical composition by Saint Saƫns titled "Danse Macabre." It reflects on the relationship of the living with death. In this composition, Death plays the violin to a woman whose figure is made up of his music, the sheet score of the original song. The perspective of the patterned rug confuses the dreamlike space, in the back of which stands a mirror with no reflection and a window that has been blown open, revealing constellations behind it. Each surface is saturated with color and pattern that is unified by a golden layer of amber shellac over its entirety. The piece is unframed, but could be framed by request and at an additional charge.

  2. Death

    Death

This collage is part of a larger four piece set, but could be purchased solo for the right offer! "Death" is a mash-up of the Horseman of the Apocalypse by the same name and Alphonse Mucha's "Summer" from his decorative series, "The Four Seasons." "Death" is the embodiment of unregulated and unethical Capitalism. Her gown is made of credit cards, and her laughing skull is an allusion to Jose Guadalupe Posada's "La Catrina" symbolism used to criticize Mexico's aristocratic elite. She stands in a pile of bones and cash, as arms reach up greedily at her. She is framed with bones. In the background, a forest is razed to clear space for cash crops and a stock arrow rises into the smoke. This piece is framed in a sleek black wood frame, and is ready to hang with d-rings and wire hanging hardware on the back.

  3. Conquest

    Conquest

This collage is part of a larger set of four, but could be sold solo for the right offer! "Conquest" is a mash-up of the Horseman of the Apocalypse by the same name and Alphonse Mucha's "Autumn" from his decorative series, "The Four Seasons." "Conquest" represents a perversion of Justice in America. She wears a slutty police officer's uniform and uses her sword to remove her blindfold. Her scales sit at her side askew. She stands in the darkened hall of a prison, among stacked orange prison jumpsuits. She is framed by chains and handcuffs, and a splay of automatic weapons sits at her feet. The collage is framed in a sleek black wood frame with glass insert, it is ready-to-hang with d-rings and wire hanging hardware in the back.

  4. Famine

    Famine

This collage is part of a larger set of four works, but could be purchased solo for the right offer! "Famine" is a mash-up of the Horseman of the Apocalypse by the same name and Alphonse Mucha's "Winter," from his decorative series, "The Four Seasons." Famine is framed by pearls, diamonds and cotton candy pink clouds. She poses seductively in a luxurious white fur coat. Her toy dog stands in front of her, and her designer bag perches on her arm. Behind her, a simple city alleyway, where a homeless man lies with a sign pleading for help. In the foreground, piles of trash and fast food speak to our wasteful throw-away culture and the growing divide of wealth and class inequality in our country. This piece is framed in a sleek black wood frame with a glass insert, and is ready to hang with d-rings and hanging wire hardware on the back.

  5. War

    War

This collage is part of a larger set of four, but could possibly be purchased by itself for the right offer! This collage is a mashup of one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse with Alphonse Mucha's "Spring" from his decorative series, "The Four Seasons." The work reflects on the social ills of the industry-military complex. "War" stands in a camouflage evening gown and gas mask, flanked by land-to-air missiles and automatic weaponry. In the background, a hydrogen bomb explodes as a drone fires a predator missile. She is framed by stained glass from a church window, reflecting on the role of religion in armed conflict. This work is ready-to-hang in a sleek black wooden frame with d-ring and wire hanging hardware on the back.

  6. The Four Horsemen

    The Four Horsemen

This series of collages served as the blueprints for a larger illustrative installation. Each of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is portrayed as a mash-up with Alphonse Mucha's decorative and feminine "The Four Seasons." Spring, summer, fall, and autumn thus become War, Death, Conquest, and Famine. The imagery around and forming each figure speak to four social ills plaguing American Society. "War" reflects on the death and destruction of the industro-military complex, "Famine" speaks to rampant wealth inequality, "Conquest" is about the out of control prison industry, and "Death" is the embodiment of unbridled and unethical capitalism. This is a polyptych with four separate, ready-to-hang framed pieces. D-rings and wire on the back, each frame has a glass insert.***I would prefer to sell these as a set, as they were always meant to be viewed together, but I would be open to offers for singular pieces.*** Dimensions are per piece, weight is combined.

  7. What a Beautiful Place to Get Lost

What a Beautiful Place to Get Lost

16 x 20 in. unframed, approx. 17.5 x 21.5 in. framed. Ready to hang with wire hardware and d-rings on the back. No glass insert. Mixed media collage with paper remnants, found frame. 2017. This collage illustrates the moment Little Red Riding Hood is lead astray from the path to Grandma's house by the Wolf, who asks her to pick some flowers with him. The surface of the collage reflects the many layers and shapes of paper beneath it, and the texture and pattern of each piece of paper contributes to the creation of the scene and its atmosphere. More globally, this piece reflects on the loss and exploitation of innocence. This piece was originally shown in a group show called "Red," in which each artist illustrated a different scene from the classic fairytale. (2017, PAFA)
